USA vs. Brazil FIFA Confederations Cup Final

USA definitely was the underdog going into the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup against Brazil. USA wasn't originally expected to even be in the final because of their first two loses against Brazil and Italy. Then they came back and beat Egypt to get to the semifinal. In the semifinal they beat Spain who is currently the number 1 team in the world.
No one expected USA in the final, however on June 28th USA played Brazil in the FIFA Confederations Cup. USA started out playing very well. With two quick, unexpected goals, USA were ahead 2-0 in the first half. USA played with great teamwork making excellent passes, great field position, good defense, and wonderful saves by the goalkeeper Howard. USA won the first half by upsetting Brazil 2-0.
In the second half, Brazil came out strong and determined to win. Within the first minute of the second half Brazil scored, motivating their team to continue to attack. Brazil scored their next goal by a header from Fabiano. USA was on the defensive and Brazil continued to attack. Within minutes of the end of the game Brazil scored again finishing off USA to win the Confederations Cup yet again. This is Brazil's 3rd Confederations Cup win.

Wednesday May 27, 2009 was a very exciting day to soccer fans all over the World. Especially Barcelona fans who supported their team all the way since the start of the Champions League. Despite soccer analysts that expected an English team to win the final (The English premiere league is the best in the world, and 3 English teams accompanied Barcelona to the semi-final).

Barcelona players were more present in the field and created more occasions to score. Eto'o, Messi, Iniesta and Xavi were in their best form. They posed a danger to Manchester's defense with attacks that started mostly from Xavi.

Samuel Eto'o, the Camerounian striker opened the score after an individual effort that made Barca players more consistent and willing to get more goals not only defend the first one. On the other hand, Ronaldo and Rooney couldn't score, despite Ronaldo's attempts that weren't dangerous.

The time the English fans were expecting Manchester United to come back and score, Messi, the young Argentinian player scored a second goal that left Manchester United players lost in the field. Watching their faces you could tell that they were emotionally hurt, but soccer is always this way, only one team can win.

Congratulations to Barcelona fans! Good luck to Manchester United fans. At the end, we are the winners, we love soccer and we get to watch very competitive games!

Morocco in the Second Round for the First Time (World-Cup 1986)

Morocco's participation in the World Cup of 1986 wasn’t a surprise at all, yet it was the result of hard work from very skilled players that showed a high quality of soccer skills in the African cup and the African championship. Some Moroccan players were part of the first wave of African players in Europe (Krimau and Amanallah played in France the time El Haddaoui and Bouderbala played in Switzerland.).

Moroccan National Team (World Cup 1986 ) :

The players of the Moroccan national team of soccer were very skilled players in their positions. They were doing well in Africa and some of them in Europe, so they had to play at a high enough level to meet the Moroccan people's expectations.
The power of the Moroccan team didn’t come only from the players, but from the coach Jose Faria as well. He knew how to select the best players for the positions and how to combine local and international, new and experienced players in a well organized team playing modern soccer.
Here is the Moroccan team in World Cup 1986 :

· Zaki – Goal Keeper
· Khalifa
· Lamriss
· Biyaz
· Bouyahiaoui
· Dolmi
· El Haddaoui
· Bouberbala
· Timoumi
· Merri
· Abdelfatah
· Khairi
· Sahil
· Fadil
· Bidar
· Mouddani
· Hmied- Goal keeper
· Krimau

· Amanallah
· Ouadani

Coach : Faria

Moroccan Team Group in World Cup 1986 :

Morocco was part of the Group F in world cup 1986:

-Portugal

Morocco in 2nd Round for the first time (World Cup 1986 ) :

The Moroccan team made it to the second round of the world cup in 1986 as the first African and Arabic team to get to this level of competition.
In the first game against Poland, the Moroccans showed that they were ready to achieve something in the World Cup; they were there to compete against the best teams in the world. The teams performance in the first game was an alarming signal to England and Portugal. The Moroccan team was strong defensively with the skilled goalkeeper Zaki and the good defenders Khalifa, Lamriss, Biyaz and Bouyahiaoui. They were also very dangerous offensively especially since the team had the best Moroccan player of all the time, the midfilder Dolmi who always made sure that the strikers of the team got the maximum of chances in front of the other team's goalkeeper. The Moroccan team played with more than one striker, so that many players could get a goal at any moment.
The Moroccan team played almost the same way in both games against Poland and England. They played good but cautiously. Both games were a tie which made the third game against Portugal very important. It was the Moroccan's chance to be in the second round of the World Cup. This was their unique chance to realize the African continent's dream and they achieved it.
With a latino Moroccan soccer style, Jose Faria took his Moroccan team to the second round after winning against Portugal 3-1. The game was the Moroccan's since the start with a star, with Khairi the Moroccan who got 2 goals against Portugal.

Results:

-Morocco vs Poland 0-0
-Morocco vs England 0-0
-Morocco vs Portugal 3-1

English Premier League

The English premier league is one of the best national championships in the world.Goals...goals... goals...is the main characteristic of most of the games in England.

The English Premier League 2009 wasn't any different from its precedents, the competition was all year between the "classic 4", Manchester United, Liverpool , Chelsea and Arsenal, and the only surprise to at least a lot of soccer fans was the bad performances of Newcastle.

Manchester United won the first position with 90 points, followed by Liverpool who never gave up the race with 86 points, Chelsea with 83 points and Arsenal with 72 points.

At the bottom of the list, three teams lost the honor to compete in the most viewed national championship in the world , Newcastle at the 18Th position with only 34 points, middlesbro with 32 points and in the last position west brom with 32 points and a slide difference of goals with middles bro.

Winners of the past World Cups

The first world cup was won by the host team Uruguay after they won a very competitive final game against Argentina 4-2. Since then, more teams started competing seriously to win this prestigious cup. The cup is normally won by either a European team as France, Italy, England and Germany or a South American team like Brazil or Argentina.Uruguay won another world cup in 1950, but since then, they didn't show any signs of a comeback.

World Cup Winners :

  • 1930 Uruguay
  • 1934 Italy
  • 1938 Italy
  • 1950 Uruguay
  • 1954 Germany
  • 1958 Brazil
  • 1962 Brazil
  • 1966 England
  • 1970 Brazil
  • 1974 Germany
  • 1978 Argentina
  • 1982 Italy
  • 1986 Argentina
  • 1990 Germany
  • 1994 Brazil
  • 1998 France
  • 2002 Brazil
  • 2006 Italy
Soccer fans all over the world are expecting a very competitive world cup in 2010 in South Africa. There is a big possibility of surprise, maybe by an African team in the finale.

The World Cup Finally in Africa

The African continent will finally organize the world cup. 2010 is a very important year for African soccer. They proved year after year that the continent deserved more teams in the world cup and now they are organizing it.
Morocco was the first African team to apply to the organization of the world cup but south Africa ended up winning more votes from FIFA members and they will be hosting the next world cup 2010.
Morocco showed its entire support to South Africa, after all, the continent needs this internationally viewed event.

World cup by country organizer:
(Where the World cup was hosted)
  • 1930 Uruguay
  • 1934 Italy
  • 1938 France
  • 1950 Brazil
  • 1954 Switzerland
  • 1958 Sweden
  • 1962 Chile
  • 1966 England
  • 1970 Mexico
  • 1974 West Germany
  • 1978 Argentina
  • 1982 Spain
  • 1986 Mexico
  • 1990 Italy
  • 1994 USA
  • 1998 France
  • 2002 Korea Republic and Japan
  • 2006 Germany

I expect the coming World Cup to be different than any other one in the past. There are more skilled and experienced players in the world than any other time in history of soccer. The differences between famous and smaller teams are becoming miniscule. Especially in a time where a lot of small teams have more professional players who play in the best championships in the world than they ever did before.

A team like Morocco has players who are doing well in England, Spain, Italy, France, etc. The Moroccan team is just an example of a team who is probably less famous than brazil or italy , but is the first African and Arabic team to qualify for the second tour of the world cup in Mexico in 1986. They can create another surprise in this coming world cup if they ever qualify.

Nigeria, Cameroun, Ivory coast, USA, Mexico, Japan...are teams that can create a huge surprises in the 2010 World Cup.
